about

Studio demo recorded in 1967. The next-to-last song written by Paul Levinson and Stu Nitekman, and the next-to-last recording of Paul Levinson and The New Outlook. Paul and Stu were thinking of finding an unrecorded group, and producing a recording of them singing and playing "If Leave Fall Tomorrow". They found Monday's Children, via an ad Paul posted on a bulletin board at CCNY in New York. That recording was never completed, but Paul did meet his future wife Tina (see bonus photo) in the process (she saw the ad on the bulletin board and introduced Paul and Stu to Monday's Children, who were friends of hers), so it was still very much worthwhile. As for the song, Paul, Stu, and Ira recorded "If Leaves Fall Tomorrow" in the demo session they did with Ellie Greenwich and Mike Rashkow (see bonus photo) after they were signed to their Pineywood Productions.

lyrics

If Leaves Fall Tomorrow (lyrics by Paul Levinson, 1967)

If leaves fall tomorrow
and skies should turn to grey
Then we'd be very sorry
we didn't love today

If thieves call tomorrow
and steal our dreams away
We'd pine for all the sunshine
we could have had today

You say, 'haste makes waste,
only fools rush in, and Rome wasn't built in a day'
I say, 'life is short, and it come to naught
once love begins wilting away'
So let's enjoy life while we may
Today (let's love today)
Today (let's love today)
Today (let's love today)

If leaves fall tomorrow
and bury all our plans
Then we'd be lost and lonely
in winter's barren lands

I say, let's enjoy life while we may
Today (let's love today)
Today (let's love today)
Today (let's love today)

Cause we'd be drowned by sorrow
if leaves fall tomorrow
